A case from the office, real estate litigation:

An apartment delayed by two and a half years

What happened
The buyer of a subsidised-price apartment waited for delivery about two and a half years past the contractual date. When the apartment was ready, the developer made the handover of the keys conditional on paying indexation and interest that had accrued during its own delay.
What was done
A claim for damages and a motion for interim relief were filed with the Magistrates' Court.
What was agreed
At the hearing, on the court's recommendation, the parties reached an arrangement given the force of a decision: the client received the apartment, and the disputed sum was deposited with the court, instead of going to the developer, pending judgment. The arrangement was backed by a personal guarantee.
